LEK CHAILERT: A TRIBUTE TO LIFE
Elephant Nature Park, located near Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, is a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating elephants previously subjected to abuse in logging, tourism, and other exploitative industries.
Founded by animal rights advocate Sangduen “Lek” Chailert, the 250-acre park provides refuge to over 200 rescued elephants, along with other animals, offering them a safe and natural environment in which to recover physically and psychologically.
Raised in the mountainous region of northern Thailand, Lek Chailert grew up witnessing the mistreatment of elephants used in logging operations — an experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to animal welfare and led to the creation of the sanctuary.
