INMATES CLEAN BANGKOK SEWERS TO REDUCE SENTENCES

On June 7, 2023, inmates participated in a public works program on the streets of Bangkok, cleaning drainage systems as part of a sentence reduction initiative.

​

The program, a collaboration between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Department of Corrections, aims to help reduce prison overcrowding while allowing inmates to earn income prior to release. The initiative also contributes to flood prevention efforts during Thailand’s annual monsoon season.
