ADVOCATES URGE IMPROVED ACCESS TO ABORTION SERVICES IN THAILAND
On February 7, 2024, members of the volunteer-based group Tamtang submitted a letter to Dr. Thosaporn Serirak, Chairman of the Public Health Commission, at Thailand’s Parliament House in Bangkok. The group called on the Ministry of Public Health to ensure nationwide access to safe and free abortion services, with at least one public provider available in each province.
Although abortion was legalized in Thailand three years ago, advocates argue that practical access to services remains uneven and limited, particularly outside major urban centers.
