FROM REFUGEE CAMP TO TOURIST SITE

The tribal group Karen, due to conflict with the military regime in Myanmar, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, fled to the Thai border area at the refugee camps and even after years of living in Thailand, they are still being refused Thai citizenship also have limited access to electricity, roads, health care, and schools, so some of the camps became a tourist site, self-sufficient on tourist revenue and not needing financial assistance.
