THE GHOST SHIP ATTRACTION
On Koh Chang Island, the abandoned Galaxy Hotel — a seven-story cruise ship repurposed into a hotel — has stood vacant for more than two decades after closing due to economic difficulties. Despite its closure, the structure has become an informal tourist attraction.
Visitors pay a small entrance fee to explore its decaying corridors, overgrown surroundings, and seaside location, drawn by the site’s unusual architecture and eerie atmosphere. The former resort complex reflects changing tourism patterns and the appeal of abandoned spaces in Thailand’s travel landscape.
