DEMOCRATIC JUNGLE
THE INVISIBLE STRUGGLES OF THE WORKERS WHO POWER OUR WORLD
Democratic Jungle was presented at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand (FCCT), one of Southeast Asia’s leading press institutions.
The exhibition features a striking series of images documenting laborers across Southeast Asia, interrogating the paradox of progress: as our world becomes increasingly connected and efficient, it simultaneously distances us from the people who sustain our comfort, convenience, and consumption.
Nathalie’s photographs reveal often-overlooked realities of inequality, exploitation, and the emotional cost of survival. These lived experiences are frequently overshadowed by corporate language such as “ethical sourcing,” “fair trade,” “social impact,” and “sustainability.”
“These words fill boardrooms and marketing campaigns, crafting a sanitized vision of progress,” says Nathalie. “But what about the workers behind the scenes—those rarely considered in definitions of ‘wellness’ or ‘eco-friendly’ labor conditions?”
The exhibition received media coverage including features in the Bangkok Post and Nikkei Asia.

"I extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency
Remco van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand, and his husband,
Carter Duong, for their presence, as well as to all the beautiful souls who joined us.", Nathalie
